The Ups & Downs: From Celebrating My First Semester Teaching to Becoming a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV)

I share this timeline as a reflection of where both I have been physically and where my thoughts and emotions have been. Overall, it illustrates the rollercoaster of events I and my fellow Peace Corps China Volunteers went through these past two months.

Many thoughts have crossed my mind over the course of the past two months, and I know one day I will put all these thoughts into words, but now I believe is not the time. I have and will continue to reflect on not only my experiences these past two months, but also the overall eight months I served as a Peace Corps China Volunteer. One point I have reflected on about my experience is looking back at it all, I am happy. I am happy and I am thankful for everything I was able to accomplish and everyone I was able to form relationships with.

2020 started phenomenal and I believe even in the midst of uncertainty and COVID-19, 2020 can continue to be a phenomenal year. Talking with an advisor in Bangkok, I began to see uncertainty as exciting. Considering what I can and cannot control in my life, I am excited for what is next.

As I have decided the title of this website to be, “Flipping the Page,” I begin to flip the page from being a Peace Corps Volunteer to a RPCV and whatever else comes next. I will build upon my experience as a PCV and continue to keep this blog alive (and hopefully more active than it was when I was a volunteer). This is only the beginning of my work in the international development sector, and I will continue to write as I have new adventures, lessons, and stories to share! 谢谢大家。
