The Ups & Downs: From Celebrating My First Semester Teaching to Becoming a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV)

Yesterday I finished reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. In the second to last chapter Mortenson is talking with Brigadier General Bashir Baz in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, this is fall of 2003. I would like to share a quotation from Bashir to Mortenson. Bashir says,

The enemy is ignorance. The only way to defeat it is to build relationships with these people, to draw them into the modern world with education and business. Otherwise the fight will go on forever.

Mortenson and Relin, 310

This quotation describes the work Peace Corps Volunteers performed in China.
